Bermuda’s history, culture and heritage are being celebrated in a succession of weekly events. They are known as Bermudian Heritage Nights and take place in the Royal Naval Dockyard every week. The events are set to continue every Thursday till September.
It’s arranged to rejoice the life, history and pride of Bermuda.
They are being held at the former hub of navel activity in the Victualling Yard in The Royal Naval Dockyard. The celebrations include food and drink, dancing, street vendors, sports – including croquet and cricket – and music.
There are also carnival games – for children and adults alike. There are also organised trips to places of historical significance. These include setting up trips to the Commissioners House and to the National Museum of Bermuda. There’s something for everyone!
The opening Heritage Night event took place on Thursday the 26th of May. It featured a Calypso band along with steel pan music, Sambor and Gombey dancing.
The next event is tonight, Thursday, the 2nd of June at 6:30pm. The events usually finish around 8:30pm.
