Any restaurant or establishment that wins an award is considered like a quality place and rightly so. Imagine then a place that after winning the award of the Best Hotel Restaurant gets the award for the Best Pizza.
That’s exactly the case of the Jasmine Lounge. One of the nine restaurants located within the Fairmont Southampton resort, it features once again in the Best of Bermuda Award list of The Bermudian with a quite unexpected award of the best pizza on the island. There was plenty of eateries and pizzerias who could have pretended to this title, such as the two previous editions’ winners La Trattoria and Primavera, or even Rustico, the 2011 People’s Choice Award for best pizza.
But the Jasmine Lounge’s pizza is just too good and is right now the best you’ll ever get on the island, with a gorgeously crispy handmade base and a price that will leave you as stunned as its taste. Furthermore, this will be the last place you would expect eating a pizza, never mind of this standard.
Indeed, the Jasmine Lounge is more known for being the place to savour the quintessential martini cocktail. People are more used to think of this place as an elegant and relaxing tearoom where you can meet and greet your friends at any time of the day. But the ultra thin crusts pizzas have taken place on the new Lounge Menu, between the tapas, soups and salads, gourmets sandwiches, the home cooked classics, and the desserts.
There are six different pizzas to choose from, all exclusively created for the Jasmine Lounge and not available in any other restaurants of the Fairmont Southampton. There is the Meat Lovers (pepperoni, ham, bbq sausage and mozzarella), the Roasted Vegetables (buffalo mozzarella, basil and tomato coulis), the Provencal (tomato, basil, garlic, parmesan and red onions), the Organic Serrano Ham and Truffle (fresh pecorino, rosemary cream and arugula), the Hawaiian (ham, pineapple, red onion and mozzarella), and the impressive Signature (pepperoni, chorizo, red onion, tomato, goat’s cheese, black olives, sun-dried tomato, pesto sauce, drizzled with balsamic reduction and sprinkled with garden basil).
So now everyone can find something they like during the traditional afternoon tea (3 to 5pm), pizzas and of course the usual trimmings such as freshly baked scones, jams and tea sandwiches. All of this served all day long with your favourite cocktail, martini or other. Make sure to book your table for the afternoon tea during the summer months as this is a very popular one with the locals and tourists alike.
The Jasmine Lounge is not just for relaxing and lazy cocktail afternoons, it gets turned into a trendy and hip discotheque from 6pm and stays open until 1am. The place changes totally and becomes amazingly and surprisingly alive with live music and dancing. With a dress code resort casual day like night, the Jasmine Lounge is a bit like Bermuda, laid back and classy but also ready to party whenever the opportunity arises.
We can bet that the place hasn’t finished to win awards and while it might not seem like a pizzeria, don’t make the mistake to turn back before you have tasted the best pizza in Bermuda!
