Yes! It’s Friday! It’s Friday happy hour at Harry’s!
Friday, every week, is time to relieve the pressure of the week and to step without waiting into the blessed time that is the week-end. Bars and restaurants get ready for their biggest night of the week – and herds of workers invade them, joining the students in Bermuda, to celebrate the prospect of two nights in a row devoted to partying!
For them, the best invention after Friday is the Friday night happy hour. There is nothing better to get everyone in a good mood and quickly forget the last five days than a good happy hour!
The judges at The Bermudian Best of Bermuda Awards have found the Friday night happy hour at Harry’s to be the best on the island in 2011.
Located in The Waterfront, on Pitt’s Bay Road, Hamilton, this family-run restaurant has a bar and an outside waterside patio where the crowd rushes every Friday after the offices are closed to gather around the huge marlin statue with a well-deserved drink. Thankfully, the people at Harry’s have not taken the expression happy hour literally and instead are offering a blasting five hours of it, between 5pm to 10pm. The event features the famous Martini Madness which name will provide many an explanation of their hangover on Saturday. There are many Martinis on Harry’s drink menu, such as the Lychee Martini (lychee liqueur, strawberry purée and champagne) and the Pomegranite Martini (Van Gogh vodka, Pama liqueur and champagne) for the classy people; the Lemon Drop Martini (Absolut Citron vodka, lemon juice, triple sec and sugar) for the zesty ones; or the White Chocolate Martini (vanilla vodka, crème de cacao and white Godiva liqueur) and Espresso Martini (Van Gogh vodka, espresso, Bailey’s and milk) for those in need of a sugar rush.
But there is much more to drink at Harry’s and not everyone is keen on cocktails. So to start your week-end in your own style, you can choose some wine, some champagne and sparkling wine, or some beer. Because there are so many ways to celebrate Friday, or any other occasions for that matter, Harry’s sells some cigars too, Montecristo No 2and No5, Montecristo Club and Cohiba Club.
Harry’s is not just a bar though, it is also a restaurant and you can come here everyday of the week, except on Sundays when the staff takes a deserved rest. It is a modern place with leather chairs and dark wood panelling that will not distract you from the creative menu. It is a steakhouse with the beef being matured for 21 days and flavoured to give you the best steak possible. There is also a great choice of fresh seafood and an extensive cellar with over 2,000 bottles from around the world to match perfectly your drink with your taste and your food.
In the middle of the restaurant is placed the private dining room where you can get up to ten people in a complete privacy, in a space surrounded by the temperature-controlled wine cellar.
