Bermuda hosts many great sporting events and the 2014 Argo Group Gold Cup Yacht Race is one of the best. Brought to you by the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club and the Argo Group.
Whoever is crowned champion of the competition, from October 21st to the 26th, shall receive the King Edward VII Gold Cup, the oldest yacht match racing trophy in the world. It was first presented in 1907 by King Edward VII to C. Sherman Hoyt, the winner of the Tri-Centenary Regatta at Jamestown, Virginia. It was a race held to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the first British settlement in America.
Hamilton Harbour will now see twenty teams turn out for the second last event of the Alpari World Match Racing Tour. Heading out to try and win the $100,000 cash prize. However, only two teams can compete in the Grand Final, on their way to raising the 2014 Argo Group Gold Cup.
Sailing fans are welcome to come along, as the regatta is free to spectators. The Royal Bermuda Yacht Club shall also be opening its doors to the public for the duration of the event. Providing food tents and other facilities for an amazing day out for all the family.
